Job Description

Levin Eye Care is a growing Eye Care (Optometry, Ophthalmology and Optical) company seeking a seasoned Chief Operating Officer (COO) to be the right hand of our CEO. With specific experiences and talents, we are looking for an individual that can lead our team of high-performing professionals to be efficient, productive, and effective. Our ideal candidate has extensive experience within the industry, perhaps having worked their way up through the ranks to your role as an executive. We believe this trajectory helps develop a unique mix of finance, business and management expertise, plus proficiency with the practices, policies, and procedures of the Eye Care Industry. We have our eye out for a COO with strong leadership skills and the ability to approach business from a creative point of view.

Objectives of this Role

  • Collaborate with the CEO in setting and driving organizational vision, operational strategy, and hiring needs
  • Drive the marketing, merchandising and branding strategies for the organization
  • Translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning
  • Enforce and monitor company-wide policy and procedures
  • Oversee the finance and accounting department to ensure that financial reporting, internal controls and budgeting meet and exceed best in class standards
  • Manage all company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes exceed expectations
  • Ensure organization functions at its highest level to cultivate customer satisfaction across all markets
  • Oversee inventory control systems
  • Adhere to company, federal, state, and local business requirements, enforcing compliance and acting when appropriate and necessary

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Analyze internal operations and identify areas of process enhancement
  • Develop actionable business strategies and plans that ensure alignment with short-term and long-term objectives developed in tandem with the CEO
  • Directly oversee Operations, Chief Merchandising Officer, Human Resources, Marketing and Accounting. Partners with the CEO on sales management to budget for sufficient investment capital to achieve growth targets over term
  • Ownership of the financial reporting and review process on a regular basis, overseeing Controller
  • Aggressively manage capital investments and expenses to ensure the company achieves investor targets relative to growth and profitability – KPI’s attached
  • Monitor performance with tracking and establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports, both current and forecasting
  • Key focus on recruiting and retention of human capital; work closely with contracted recruiting firms as required for key positions
  • Maintain and build trusted relationships with customers, clients, partners, vendors and stakeholders
  • Direct employee development programs and processes
  • Monitor and establish protocols for asset loss (i.e. theft, waste)

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in Executive Leadership positions
  • Proven leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
  • Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues
  • A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics
  • Proven experience in financial analysis and forecasting
  • Experience with corporate expansion to include commercial real estate, site selection, negotiation, lay-out and build-out of location based on specific metrics. Ability to conduct and manage absorption of new locations seamlessly
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues
  • Exceptional listening skills; Solid oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business or related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in Eyecare operations
  • Accounting or Finance background preferred
  • Organizational Management
  • Six Sigma Certification or other process improvement training
